European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn comes to Moldova on 6 November, following an invitation by Prime Minister Iurie Leanca. The officials will hold a bilateral meeting. Afterwards, they will give a joint news conference.

The sides will address Moldova's European agenda, domestic reforms and regional situation.

The European official will also meet President Nicolae Timofti and Parliament Speaker Igor Corman.

This is the first visit abroad by Johannes Hahn as commissioner, after he took over the post. He replaces in office Stefan Füle, whose mandate ended on 31 October.

In early past October, during hearings in the European Parliament for confirming Johannes Hahn to the new post, the official said that he praised the efforts taken by Moldova as regards reforms. Hahn added that the Eastern Partnership created a good cooperation framework with the EU neighbouring states. He specified that, during his five-year mandate, he would do so that Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia receive all necessary support from EU, in order to implement reforms on modernisation of the three states.
