The European financial assistance to Moldovan farmers, the justice reform and the situation in the region were the main topics addressed by the sides.
Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that Moldova was taking steps to assist agricultural producers to export their output to the European market.
"To this effect, Romania and Poland are the first countries in the European Union to open their markets for Moldovan farmers," said the prime minister. At the same time, Iurie Leanca insisted on the need for compensation for growers of wine grapes, which according to him would represent a substantial help to farmers.
At the same time, Iurie Leanca said that the justice reform was a priority on Moldova's European agenda and stressed the need for a transfer of expertise in this area by bringing European judges in Moldova and assisting local judges.
The officials also discussed the complex situation in the region, referring to events in the neighbouring country, Ukraine.
The two officials’ meeting was held on the eve of the meeting of the European Action Group for Moldova. The foreign ministers and secretaries of state of the EU countries will attend the event today.
