Prime Minister Iurie Leanca today attended the ceremony of taking the military oath of allegiance. A number of 70 first-year students of the Alexandru cel Bun Military Academy took part in the event at the Triumphal Arch Square. Dozens of parents and friends came to support their children and peers.
Iurie Leanca conveyed a congratulatory message to the new students of the Military Academy. "The love of country, sacrifice, honour, dignity, loyalty to the oath to the Motherland, these are values and traditions that have always characterised the military profession. The task of the Military Academy, as well as that of the National Army is to perpetuate these principles among their disciples", said the prime minister. The prime minister also spoke about continuing the reforms in the National Army: increasing the capacity to participate in international efforts to maintain peace and stability, extensively applying civilian and democratic control tools over the national security sector, strengthening military teams and ensuring a high level of discipline of the militaries and their social protection. "We, the young generation, are convinced in choosing the military career. The military integration course instilled our firm belief in the need to defend the country", said one of the Academy’s freshman students, in his congratulatory message. After the ceremony, the prime minister spoke with the students’ parents and congratulated them on this important day for their families. At the end, they all took a group photo at the Stefan Cel Mare si Sfant monument.
